On 1 January 2023, Michiel joined the partnership of Summit Advocaten. Michiel has been a criminal defence lawyer since 2012 and worked as a prosecutor and judge for some time in between. This short-term intermezzo at the court and the public prosecutor’s office had a positive influence on his work as a criminal defense lawyer; he knows better than anyone else what it takes to win a case.

Michiel mainly handles criminal and administrative law cases. He prefers complex legal issues, but handles a relatively simple police court hearing with equal dedication and flair. He provides intelligent legal representation for people who face a wide range of criminal charges. He has highly developed analytical skills and an excellent professional knowledge. Michiel considers it a privilege to be able to study the latest Supreme Court case law in order to use it in court in favour of his clients. He is socially committed and appreciates the opportunity to help his clients get through tough times in their lives.

Michiel has several publications to his name and is founder and board member of the Hague Association of Defence Counsel.
